With DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4, the brand has turned a corner with a new plug-in hybrid power unit. With combined power of 80kW, positioned over each axle, two electric motors have a range of up to 36 miles  (WLTP cycle). They are powered by latest generation batteries whose cells are so compact they can be situated beneath the rear seats, without affecting cockpit room or boot space.

This new generation stands apart from “non plug-in hybrids” (HEV), which don’t have any real range (1.3 – 1.9 miles maximum) in 100% electric mode.

Drive modes

DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 has four drive modes:
HYBRID mode, sometimes enables you to drive using electric power, other times with the internal combustion engine. As useful around town as on the motorway, it delivers optimal use of electrical energy.

100% ELECTRIC mode, selected by default, is perfect for urban journeys. You can cover more than 36 miles without consuming a single drop of petrol. Experience a new sensation: complete silence inside with remarkable responsiveness.

Activate SPORT mode to unleash the potential of your DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4. The internal combustion engine will deliver all its power, assisted by the two electric motors. Accelerate and repeat: you’ll reach the peak of driver enjoyment.

The 4×4 or 4WD mode will improve drivability on the road or over difficult terrain. The power of the motors is evenly distributed across all four wheels, greatly improving grip whether the road you’re on is winding, damp, muddy or snowy.

E-SAVE function

The E-SAVE function saves electrical energy in the batteries for future use. This mode is especially useful when you’re expecting a restricted traffic zone, reserved solely for “clean” vehicles.

Charge My DS-Pass lets you find and access a select network of electric charging points compatible with your vehicle. With our charging pass you can access a network of more than 100,000 charging points around Europe.

DS Road Trip services let you prepare your trips and see where there are charging points for plug-in hybrid cars. A total journey time, taking into account stops for charging, will also be shown.
This service is compatible with DS Connect NAV, Waze, Google Maps and Apple Maps.

Charging cables

DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 comes with a case and two charging cables. Connect easily at home or on the road.

With your 2-mode cable, top up the battery of your plug-in hybrid through any household socket. Charging time varies from 4hrs at a 3.2kW point (installation by a professional required) to 7hrs from a standard 1.8kW socket.

With the 3-mode cable, connect your plug-in hybrid to a DS Wallbox, our fast-charging point. Charging time will be reduced to 1h 45min. This cable is also compatible with some public charging points.


An app that controls everything

Information about range

With the MyDS smartphone app, you can see the current range of your plug-in hybrid. When your car is charging, you can see how fast it’s charging and remaining charge time.

Remote charging

With control of remote charging you can use the MyDS app to commence charging or initiate a programmed charge. A programmed charge is particularly useful for organising charges when energy rates are most beneficial.

Remote heating or cooling

Configuring the cockpit’s thermal pre-set function enables you to programme heating or cooling. This function is very important for preserving battery range if the car is being charged.

Choosing a plug-in hybrid frees you to drive around town even when traffic is restricted. DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 has a bright blue LED located at the top of the windscreen to show that electric mode is being used.
